From the Field to the Spotlight: EMG Saxophonist Matt Berman Performs the National Anthem at MetLife Stadium

EMG saxophonist Matt Berman delivered a powerful performance of the National Anthem at MetLife Stadium during the Giants vs. Eagles Thursday Night Football game.

A Full-Circle Moment at MetLife

For EMG saxophonist Matt Berman, performing the National Anthem at MetLife Stadium during a primetime Giants vs. Eagles Thursday Night Football game was more than a gig—it was a lifelong dream realized.

“It was an incredible honor,” Matt shares. “I started playing the saxophone when I was four years old, which was also around the time I became a Giants fan. To be able to merge those two lifelong passions, music and football, was surreal.”

A seasoned performer who has toured with Brandon Flowers of The Killers, opened for Justin Timberlake, and shared stages with legends like Wynton Marsalis and Bobby Watson, Matt describes standing on the MetLife field as one of his most meaningful experiences to date. “Having sax in the forefront, representing both my hometown and my lifelong love of the Giants, was truly a full-circle moment I’ll never forget,” he says.

Preparation Meets Passion

In true EMG fashion, preparation was everything. Leading up to game day, Matt practiced the National Anthem dozens of times daily.

“I must have played it at least 50 times a day,” he laughs. “I knew the nerves would kick in, so I wanted it to be completely automatic—so ingrained in my fingers that no matter what happened, it would just flow.”

With just 90 seconds to make an impact, every note had to count. “During soundcheck, everything felt amazing,” he recalls. “But when it came time to perform in front of a packed stadium, with the entire Eagles team standing just a few feet away, the adrenaline definitely kicked in.”

A Standing Ovation

As Matt played his final note, the crowd erupted into cheers—a moment that will stay with him forever.

“Looking up and seeing a packed stadium on their feet was absolutely incredible,” he says. “As I walked off the field, my family was there waiting, and even a few players and coaches from both the Giants and Eagles came over to say how much they enjoyed it. It was truly a dream come true.”

The EMG Experience

For nearly two years, Matt has been part of the Elegant Music Group family, performing at luxury weddings and high-end events across the country.

“EMG believed in me early on and gave me the opportunity to step into the wedding and events space, which has really propelled my career forward,” he says. “What I love most about EMG is the people—everyone is not only exceptionally talented and professional, but also kind, communicative, and detail-oriented.”

Matt adds, “Whenever I perform with EMG, I know it’s going to sound amazing and that I’ll be surrounded by a team that truly cares about creating something special for every event.”

Words of Wisdom for Aspiring Musicians

For musicians dreaming of performing on grand stages, Matt offers heartfelt advice:

“You have to be willing to put in the work. Success happens when preparation meets opportunity. There are countless talented musicians out there—it’s your work ethic, your attitude, and your relationships that set you apart.”

He continues, “Leave your ego at the door, be someone people enjoy working with, and keep pushing yourself to grow both musically and personally. If you do that consistently, the right opportunities will come your way.”

A Moment to Remember

Matt’s performance at MetLife Stadium is more than just a milestone—it’s a reflection of EMG’s mission to create unforgettable moments through exceptional talent. From wedding dance floors to NFL fields, EMG artists bring passion, precision, and purpose to every stage.
