With so many options to choose from, it’s important to know how to find the right wedding band for you. Below are five tips to keep in mind when searching for the best wedding band.

1. Content

Given the current circumstances of 2021, content is more important than ever. When listening or watching potential wedding band videos, make sure the audio and video are live and not pre-produced or pre-recorded. Live audio of the band playing together as a unit is crucial because it is the most accurate representation of what the band will sound like in person.

2. Reviews

When reading reviews, look beyond basic adjectives such as, “They were great!” or “We loved them!” Try to dig deeper and read in between the lines. Key phrases to look for are, “The band had great energy,” because that translates to a packed dance floor. Some others are, “They made the planning process so easy and enjoyable” or “They had a playlist heading into the night, but they read the room and adjusted so professionally.” Find unique reviews that set one band apart from another.

3. Transparency

When it comes to wedding bands, there is something special about a set unit of musicians who consistently play together. Most companies rotate musicians in and out depending on availability, which sounds good, but something is missing. After viewing a band's content, inquire with questions such as, "Are these the people I am going to get at my wedding if I book this band?" Transparency also includes contingency plans. Make sure your band has a backup plan if a member were to get sick or have an emergency. It's never a bad idea to secure insurance, and reputable bands will have the answers to these questions.

4. Pricing

Simply put, talent is expensive. Your wedding band is an investment and is so much more than just talented musicians. Pricing also reflects preparedness, professionalism, and experience in the industry. This talent includes people who travel with the band, such as sound technicians. Most professional wedding bands in the Tri-State area range anywhere between $6,000 to as much as $25,000.

5. Value

Combining all of these aspects equals value. The value of a band starts from the moment you book them to the last dance of the night. Invest in a band that is willing to answer questions during the planning process, learn specialty songs for you, provide music in between sets, travel with professional audio engineers, and overall have your back. When you think of value, think of the big picture.
