Job Description
EMG Event Hosts/Wedding DJs are on site from between 7-10 hours for weddings, and must have a wide range of music knowledge and technical ability to keep a packed dance floor. Event Hosts at EMG also act as managers in the role of Event Lead, and instruct other staff members and independent contractors who work on the same event. Your role is not only DJ but brand ambassador for the company, and as such you must uphold our code of conduct and company culture at all times. Event Hosts also meet with and discuss details with Clients, and must provide a white-glove level of luxury service and professional communication at all times via email and phone.
Responsibilities
- Produce excellent parties for all clients through DJ techniques and crowd work
- Use a classy yet energizing MC style on the microphone to facilitate all specialty dances and announcements throughout the event
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times
- Must be on time and available to communicate with all staff on your job
- Ensure proper care and handling of company equipment
- Maintain an updated working knowledge of all services we offer (bands, DJs, and production equipment)
- Maintain your own equipment to our company’s standard
- Keep track of your availability to work and maintain your calendar for all client meetings and events
- Attend paid Training Seminars provided by Elegant Music Group
Knowledge, Skill and Experience Required
- Must have full weekend availability from March-November
- Must have prior Wedding DJ event experience
- Be willing to apprentice under our current Executive Event Hosts until feedback indicates your readiness to be a DJ on our Events
- Must be able to think critically and solve problems quickly and to the benefit of our clients
- Must possess sound judgment skills and be able to problem solve and think on your feet
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Personable and great communication skills
- Must have your own means of transportation
- Willing and able to work in a positive team environment
- Must maintain a valid state driver’s license
- Ability to lift more than 50lbs
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and be able to bend and reach overhead

Audition Requirements
Record a 20-30-minute open-format dance mix that you would play at a wedding. Keep various age groups on your “dance floor” in mind as you are programming your set.
Mixing Requirements:
- Start with “I Want You Back” – The Jackson 5 at 98bpm
- Eventually mix in “Uptown Funk” – Bruno Mars at 115bpm
- End your set with “We Found Love” – Rhianna at 128bpm
- Consistent Mixing: no echo-outs from song to song
- Consistent Programming: don’t jump around different genres, they need to make sense thematically
- Open Format: Top 40 Pop, Motown, Disco, 80s, 90s, Early 2000s, and Classic Rock.
- Do not mix newer Hip Hop or Rap.
- No Sound Drops or Effects
